God Has Power To Keep

Rom 8:35---Who shall separate us from the love of Christ---There is nothing that can separate us from God if we will only have the will to walk the strait and narrow way. In this case the old saying, "Where there is a will there is a way" is absolutely true. God is ever standing at our side to give us the grace and courage to be a conqueror over every onslaught of the devil. He will never leave us or forsake us, and if the ordeal takes our life He will give us the grace to go through and land us safely in heaven, which is the grandest deliverance anyone could possibly have.

Verse 36---For thy sake we are killed all the day long---This is a quotation from Psa 44:22. God's true followers have always been the victims of persecution and always will be as long as the world stands, according to 2 Tim 3:12, "Yea and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution."

Verse 37---We are more than conquerors---God's unlimited power is always at our disposal when we call upon Him with earnestness and sincerity. It is sin and the devil that we are to be conquerors of and God promises us that if we will steadfastly resist the devil he will have to flee. Therefore we can always have the victory over the devil because God's Word says so.

God is Faithful

Rom 8:38-39---Paul certainly knew from experience that there was no power great enough to separate the true and devoted child of Christ from the love of God. He had endured and conquered every attack that the devil could bring against him. He probably suffered the greatest persecution of any man that ever lived, but through it all he was able to rejoice and praise God that he was counted worthy to suffer for his Master's sake. God is no respecter of persons and He will do just as much for every one of us if we will set our faces like a flint with a determination to go through. Paul truly was a conqueror of the first rank and when he was about to leave for heaven he summed up his victory thus, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." And the most wonderful part of it all is, that he is still enjoying (to the full) his victory over sin and the devil. I do hope that every reader of this remark will determine in his own heart and soul that by the grace of God he is going to meet dear brother Paul "some day".

The study of this lesson certainly should impress us with absolute truth of the Master's words to Martha when she desired Mary to leave Jesus' company and come and help her with the serving. He said, "Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her." Our eternity-bound soul is our most important possession and its welfare should, by all means, be our greatest concern.

***We received the following message from Jackie:

Jerry, Hate to tell you this but this never happened. My Husband was working at NASA when this was reported to have taken place. We later met Harold Hill and my husband talked with him. My husband had said that he was sure this was not something that had happened and asked Harold Hill about it. He said it was obvious that Mr. Hill did not know what he was talking about. My husband had investigated it because we had printed the story in our Spirit of Elijah magazine at that time and then found out that the source we had printed it from had retracted it. I had to print a retraction in our magazine. If you check into the www.truthorfiction.com web site they tell all the details. Look under the religious section. This web site is a very handy one to log onto because they give the facts about a lot of the things we read on the net.

P. S. By the way, I'm not doubting the account in the Bible!
