Intercessor and Protector [ Selected ] May 30, 2003 Rom 8:26---The spirit helpeth our infirmities---The Spirit is our Comforter and Guide, and we must strive earnestly and sincerely to stay close enough to God so that we can feel His guiding hand upon us. If we will acknowledge Him in all our ways and lean not to our own understanding, He promises to direct our paths. Prayer is more than just saying words. It takes the anointing of the Spirit to make our prayer effective. Verse 27---He maketh intercession for the saints---It is wonderful indeed to have the Spirit of God dwelling in our hearts so that He can direct our every activity and to help us to know just what and how we should pray. The closer we get to God and the more time we spend in prayer the more we are going to enjoy the blessings of salvation. Verse 28---All things works together for good---When we are earnestly and sincerely serving God to the best of our knowledge and ability He is going to take the best of our knowledge and ability. He is going to take the best of care of us and He will not let anything come our way except what is for our own good. Therefore, we must praise Him for every trial that comes our way and strive with all of our hearts to get the good out of each trial that He desires us to get. This will give us that joy unspeakable and full of glory that Peter tells about. God is Our Protector Rom 8:31---If God Be For Us---We know that God is all powerful and that there is nothing too hard for Him. Therefore if we are on His side, what have we to fear? David realized the great protecting power of God and he said, "The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man," God is our very best friend and no one ever made a mistake by putting his trust in Him. Verse 32---He that spared not His own Son---This surely proves the great love of God for the lost men on the earth by the sacrifice of His only begotten Son on the cruel cross of Calvary. This should greatly increase our faith in Him and help us to really believe that He will not withold any good thing from His trusting children. Verse 33---Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect---God's elect are those that are living pure and holy lives acceptable in the sight of God, and the world will not be able to justly lay any wrongdoing to their charge. Verse 34---Who is he that condemneth---It is the godly life of Jesus Christ and his followers that condemns the world of sin. The sinner, as he takes note of the righteous life of the saints, will be condemned for his life of sins. The victory of Jesus Christ over death and His ascension to heaven at the right hand of the Father verifies the perfection of the example He left us to follow. |
